The MFA Diaries

Today was the day. My first class since re-enrolling in the MFA program I abandoned a couple years back.

The professor, a veteran newspaper man, was blunt, hard-assed and cursed like a sailor -- needless to say he was everything I had hoped for. My previous experience with this program had been a major disappointment that was only worsened by a disengaged professor and program director -- both problems that seem to have been addressed in my time away. So when it became clear that the man standing at the front of the class actually gave a damn, I felt a wave of emotions: relief, confidence (in my decision) and excitement.

So in the weeks ahead, keep an eye on these pages as I make a feeble attempt to chronicle my MFA experience for better or worse.
