Eye Candy

I've written before about my fascination with book covers, on more than one occasion my trip to the bookstore for X title has resulted in my walking out with titles X, Y, Z, and 1b all because of the allure of a great jacket flap. So it was with some interest that I checked out Amazon's Best of 2009 (Book Covers Edition), and it was with some dismay that I read the list. Nothing against any of the titles or the cover art giving their pages a pulpy hug, but I can walk over to any of the bookshelves in my home and find one, two or 11 books published in the last year that have covers as good and most times superb in too many ways to count.

So it goes without saying that Amazon's list left me a bit grumbly, but what is one to do? Well, if you're the crew at Annalemma you call out Amazon (and if you're me, or someone like-minded, you give Annalemma an interweb high five, fist bump, pat on the back, what have you).
