Write-A-Thon (Day One)

1,000 words or thereabouts and counting. What I have so far falls under the label of awful first draft, but I think there's an interesting story in the words. Somewhere. At this point, I'm not really sure where it's going, but I'm interested to find out. That said, I'm hoping to get another hour of writing in before my eyelids win the awake/asleep battle.
